General Rules

Sybaris has a zero tolerance policy for hateful conduct.

This includes, but is not limited to, ableism, racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. You will be asked to leave the venue and banned if any of this behavior is witnessed or reported in the game or on our Discord server.

Drama, harassment, and trolling are not allowed.

Any instance of the above behaviors is grounds for a ban from the venue and discord, and you will be asked to leave the premises.

Treat all employees and your fellow patrons with respect.

Sybaris is a place for relaxation, enjoyment, and luxury.
Please be respectful of all staff and patrons, or you will be removed from the premises.

Employees reserve the right to refuse service.

We value the safety and comfort of our employees, and they are allowed to refuse service to a patron at any time.

Gratuity is welcome and encouraged.

If you enjoy your experience at Sybaris and want to show your appreciation to our staff, please feel free to tip them. This can be done directly, or through the house. Just let the hostess or proprietress know who your gratuity is for, and it will be passed along when they are next available.

Please refrain from using the /shout or /yell channels in the venue.

These are reserved for usage by management to conduct fights, activities, and announcements.

Please leave your minions and modded VFX at the door.

This will help us reduce visual clutter and maintain our atmosphere. This also prevents any disruptive VFX. Please limit any ability usage or casting while in the premises, as well, unless you are a combatant in one of our fights.

Keep your level of dress appropriate

While this is an 18+ venue, it is also a respectable establishment in-game. Please dress appropriately.

Services are nonrefundable.

Once you have booked and reserved a room, you have it for the time you have paid for.
We do not offer refunds.

Basic Combat

  • Fights take place in Yell chat.

  • Fighters are called into the ring when it is time for their match.

  • The announcer will confirm fighters have read the rules, and ask fighters to roll for initiative. The player with the higher roll attacks first.

  • After the first post, both fighters roll. (Traditionally, the person who just posted rolls first, followed by the other fighter.)

  • If the fighter who just attacked rolls higher, their attack hits. If their roll is lower, the attack misses or the opponent defends against it.

  • The second fighter's post will include their reaction to the other fighter's attack, as well as a return attack on their opponent.

  • This posting and rolling order will continue until a fighter lands three (3) hits or the timer hits 45 minutes.

  • If there is a tie at 45 minutes, a Sudden Death roll will occur. Both fighters will roll a final time, and the fighter with the higher rolls takes the match. After this roll, each player gets one more post to wrap up the fight.

Rules of Engagement

A hit is a hit

  • If your character loses a defense roll, your character must take the hit, not block, parry, or shield against it. If you block, parry, or shield against a hit that rolled as a landed blow, your opponent will automatically be given an additional point.

Consent is Required for Death and Dismemberment

  • High-risk fights are the name of the game at Sybaris, but if you wish to permanently dismember or kill an opponent, both players must consent to the scenario and discuss it with Sybaris management in advance.

No Godmoding

  • While your character's abilities or other circumstances may give them an advantage, please be considerate while in the arena. We're all here to have fun, and nobody enjoys watching or playing against a character who godmodes.

Respect Your Opponent's Pronouns

  • Even in the heat of battle, please respect and use your opponent's pronouns correctly. They will be provided to you before the fight and will also be available on the fight roster for reference.

No sexual contact

  • Sexual contact is not allowed under any circumstances in the arena.

No livestock or wildlife

  • This is a fight club, not a barnyard. Keep your animals at home.

  • Short-term exceptions are made for carbuncles and other temporarily summoned creatures.

Outside of the Arena

No Fighting Outside The Arena

  • Fighting outside of the arena will have IC consequences that generally begin with a warning and end with your character being removed from the premises.

Respect Your Healers

  • Any harassment or mistreatment of our healers will result in a warning, and any subsequent infractions will result in expulsion from the premises.

There is a certain elegance to be found in brutality. Sybaris aims to bring the art of violence to new levels on our sophisticated combat stage, allowing our patrons to indulge their darker tastes in the lap of luxury.

Covert Dealings

In search of a service less savory than our usual fare? The proprietress of Sybaris deals in more than luxury. Ask any bartender for Luxuria if you need a problem dealt with. A discussion will be scheduled, and arrangements can be made.

Room Rentals

Rooms may be rented for 150,000 gil per hour.Our lovely rooms are designed with luxury and creativity in mind. Outside of business hours, these rooms may be available for your gposing or roleplaying needs. Please check the server for availability.

Venue Rental

Our entire venue is available to rent for events outside of business hours. Venue staff may be available for your event, as well, depending on scheduling and availability.Please contact the proprietress or management via our Discord server to discuss rates and availability.

Working at Sybaris

Sybaris is a luxury lounge and fight club with ties to the criminal underworld. We aim to please with a selection of extravagant food and drink pairings, well-written staff, and an opulent Thavnairian-Sharlayan fusion setting.Come enjoy an immersive roleplaying experience with dark and mature themes and high-quality writing.Sybaris is LGBTQ+ friendly and an 18+ venue.

Schedule

Open Wednesdays from 5-8 pm PST (America/Los Angeles)Shifts are 1.5 hours (5:00 - 6:30 pm and/or 6:30 - 8:00 pm)

Compensation

  • Starting pay for employees is 150k per shift, plus tips. This will increase as we start getting more revenue.

  • Shifts are 2 hours long, but staff can work 2 shifts per night.

Hiring

We are currently hiring ALL POSITIONS, but prioritizing Greeters, Host/esses, and Fight Announcers.Be aware that applicants must provide a sample of their roleplay writing in their application. You will be contacted for next steps if your application is moving forward within 14 days (but likely much sooner).
